Downey Kaiser hospital donates to veterans group

NORWALK -- Kaiser Permanente Downey Medical Center donated $15,000 and "Boxes of Love" to the Veteran's Resource Center at Cerritos College last week. 

The donation was made on Veterans Day at a campus celebration hosted by the Cerritos College Student Veterans Club. 

Jim Branchick, senior vice president and area manager for the Downey hospital, and a Navy veteran, made the donation presentation. The money will go toward the creation of a lending library to give student-veterans access to books to help ease textbook costs. 

The medical center also gave 30 "Boxes of Love" that included holiday meals for student-veterans and their families.
