Downey High accepting Hall of Fame nominations

DOWNEY — Downey High School is now accepting nominations for its next class of Hall of Fame inductees.

Started in 1999, the Hall of Fame recognizes people in six categories: arts; athletics; business; education; civic, community or government; and professional.

Candidates must have graduated from Downey High School at least 10 years ago, or have contributed to the school in other ways.

Notable inductees including singers Karen and Richard Carpenter, deep sea explorer and Titanic discoverer Robert Ballard, and Metallica front man James Hetfield.

Nomination forms are available on Downey High’s website. This year’s Hall of Fame ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 1.
