Downey has 11 schools named to Honor Roll

DOWNEY — Eleven Downey Unified schools have been named to the honor roll for demonstrating consistent high levels of academic success.

The honor roll list was compiled by Educational Results Partnership (ERP) as part of a national effort to identify higher-performing schools and districts that are improving student outcomes.

The Downey school selected for the 2018-19 honor roll include Doty Middle, Downey High, Gallatin Elementary, Griffiths Middle, Lewis Elementary, Price Elementary, Rio Hondo Elementary, Stauffer Middle, Unsworth Elementary, Warren High and Williams Elementary.

In addition to demonstrating academic success, honor roll schools showed improvement in achievement levels over time and a reduction in achievement gaps among student populations. For high schools, the honor roll recognition also includes measures of college readiness.

The honor roll program is sponsored by the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence.

“We are so proud to be recognized by leaders in the California business community by having 11 of our schools named ERP Honor Roll schools,” said Downey Unified Superintendent Dr. John Garcia. “Our teachers, staff and administrators work tirelessly to keep the focus on high expectations, student academic achievement and continuously improving our practices. This hard work and dedication is paying off for all of our students.”
