Downey fire chief is guest speaker at historical society meeting
DOWNEY - Downey fire chief Dan Hurlock will speak at Thursday’s Downey Historical Society meeting, starting at 6:30 pm.
Hurlock grew up in Downey and graduated from Downey High School in 1983. He worked as an electrical contractor before enrolling in the Rio Hondo College Fire Academy and starting his firefighting career.
Hurlock was an auxiliary firefighter with Santa Fe Springs before he was hired by the Downey Fire Department in 2000. He was named fire chief in 2021.
Thursday’s meeting is at the Barbara J. Riley Community & Senior Center and is open to the public.
