Downey at the center of moon landing celebrations
Downey is receiving lots of attention from news agencies this week as the nation celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.
One of my favorite stories was this one from KCET about retired Apollo engineers who meet regularly for lunch at HomeTown Buffet.
And this story by KCRW neatly explains Downey’s critical role in aerospace history.
The Columbia Memorial Space Center will celebrate Apollo 11’s moon landing this Saturday with lots of activities, including a “live” broadcast of Neil Armstrong taking his first steps on the moon. Admission is free.
