Doty Middle School receives donation of 100 Kindles
Last Friday, Doty Middle School received a donation of 100 Kindle E-readers from the Making Schools Digital program. This donation, which includes the Kindles and individual cases, is valued at nearly $10,000. Through the Books in Students’ Palms project, Making Schools Digital has greatly aided in the expansion of the library at Doty Middle School.
“This will greatly expand our library’s resources, as the Kindles will provide a means for students to access a number of extensive public library collections,” expressed Doty’s Librarian, Teresa Gillette.
The Kindles will be available for students to check out of the school library, similar to checking out a reading book. The students at Doty Middle will now be able to read countless books that are available for digital check-out at public libraries across the state.
The Making Schools Digital program is headed by local business leaders Anil Patel and Raj Bhakta, with generous support from Parvin Bhakta and Downey resident Devang Patel, of the Kamla for Hope Foundation.
