Dental hygiene professor wins national award
NORWALK - Dani Carroll, a dental hygiene professor at Cerritos College, has been named Educator of the Year by the American Dental Hygiene Association.The national award recognizes a full-time dental hygiene faculty member who "contributes to and is dedicated to providing high-quality education to dental hygiene students." Carroll said she was especially honored to receive the award as the nomination came from her students. "I'm so lucky to be a part of such a fantastic faculty and have such motivated students to work with," Carroll said. "We have a dynamic team and are all proud of what we call 'Team Cerritos.'" Carroll has taught at Cerritos College more than 20 years. She began as a part-time instructor in 1987 and became a full-time professor in 2002. She holds her bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Cal State Long Beach. "The Cerritos College dental hygiene department is extremely proud of Dani's accomplishments and agree, the ADHA Educator of the Year award could not go to a more deserved individual," said Adelle Krayer, director of the Cerritos College Dental Hygiene Program. The presentation ceremony will be held June 18 in Nashville, Tenn.
