Defends police

Dear Editor:I'm not a police officer, but everything Mr. Oltersdorf mentioned in his letter last week sounded to be perfectly acceptable behavior by our police department. ("Not Happy with Police," 3/12/10) As Mr. Oltersdorf stated himself, someone reported hearing gunshots and six police officers responded. Great! As a Downey resident, I am delighted to know that our police department is committed to keeping residents safe and treated the matter with the proper attention it deserved. I have never written a letter to the editor until today, but I‚Äàwanted the Downey Police Department to know that we support and appreciate what they do for the community. - Vince Kauble, Downey
