Crime Watch report, Oct. 7
Friday, Sept. 25:
At approximately 8:00 p.m., Downey Police Officers responded to the Green Line Station at 12801 Lakewood Blvd. A 27 year old female Bellflower resident had been waiting on the sidewalk in front of the Green Line when 3 female suspects (approx. 17 years old) approached her. The suspects asked to borrow the victim's phone. When the victim ignored their request, the suspects took the phone from the victim's hand, took her purse, and began to search her pockets, and fled. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspects. Detectives are investigating.
Saturday, Sept. 26:
At approximately 11:40 p.m., Downey Police Officers were dispatched to 11033 Downey Ave (“Lock & Key”), regarding a patron fighting with the bar’s staff. Prior to Officers arrival, the suspect had exited the location; however, he was located a short distance away and detained for investigation. The suspect was identified by the bar’s staff and ultimately arrested.
Sunday, Sept. 27:
At approximately 5:10 p.m., Downey Police officers assisted South Gate PD, after they reported that a vehicle used in an armed robbery in their city was registered to a residence in Downey. Downey Officers checked the area and observed the vehicle in the parking lot of Stewart's Liquor located at 11122 Paramount Blvd, with one subject inside. The subject was detained and turned over to South Gate officers.
Monday, Sept. 28:
At approximately 3:00 a.m., Downey Police Officers responded to a traffic accident in the area of Firestone and Old River. The suspect had been driving westbound Firestone and lost control of his vehicle. He struck a light pole located on the northwest corner of Old River School Rd and Firestone. Officers determined during their investigation the suspect had been driving while under the influence and placed him under arrest for DUI.
