Crime Watch: Oct. 9, 2018
Friday, Sept. 28:
At 9 pm, officers responded to Lakewood and Muller in regards to an attempt robbery. The suspect approached the victim, demanded his property and brandished an unknown silver object. Detectives are investigating.
Saturday, Sept. 29:
At 1:55 am, officers responded to 7613 Firestone in regards to a burglary. The victim exited his business and saw a male wearing a hooded sweater and face mask on the roof. Suspect fled the location on foot.
At 3:30 pm, officers located a stolen vehicle at Imperial and Lakewood. A traffic stop was conducted and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
At 10 pm, offices responded to the 9200 block of Lakewood Blvd in regards to a robbery. The suspect reached through the drive-thru window and forcefully removed money from the register. Suspect has been identified. The investigation is ongoing.
Officers worked a downtown foot beat between 10 pm and 3 am, and issued seven traffic citations and four municipal code citations.
Sunday, Sept. 30:
At 3 am, officers responded to Apollo Park. The victim and the suspect got into an argument. The victim sustained non-life threatening stab wounds and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Update: Downey patrol officers arrested the suspect on Tuesday, October 2nd, at Apollo Park. He was booked for assault with a deadly weapon.
At 9:30 pm, a 42-year-old male was crossing the street northbound on Firestone at Pangborn towards McDonald’s when he was struck by a truck traveling westbound on Firestone. The pedestrian had major head trauma and was placed on life support at the hospital. Traffic detectives are investigating.
