Crime Report: Oct. 29, 2016
Saturday, October 22:
On today’s date, between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, Downey Police
personnel, along with representatives from the DEA conducted a “drug takeback” in the
west parking lot of the police station. During the course of the event, over 440 pounds of
unwanted and/or expired prescription drugs were collected.
At approximately 10:30 pm, officers were dispatched to Tokyo Garden restaurant
located at 11946 Paramount Blvd regarding a burglary. Unknown suspect(s) had forced
entry into the restaurant and stolen currency left inside. Forensics responded to the
scene to look for physical evidence. Detectives are investigating.
Sunday, October 23:
At 1:35 am, officers responded to the 8100 block of Firestone Blvd regarding a fatal
auto -pedestrian traffic collision. Upon arrival officers, located a 22-year-old female
resident of Pasadena who had been struck by a vehicle traveling westbound as she
crossed Firestone Blvd. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was
cooperative. The traffic bureau is investigating.
At 1:40 am, officers responded to a traffic collision on Old River School Rd. south of
Florence Ave. A driver had lost control of his vehicle while traveling northbound and
crashed into a residence on the west side of the street. The driver sustained minor
injuries and was arrested for DUI. No one in the house was injured.
