Crime Report: Oct. 27-29
Friday, October 27:
At 6 p.m., officers located a stolen vehicle in the area of Firestone Blvd. and Dolan Ave. Two juvenile suspects were contacted and arrested for grand theft auto.
Saturday, October 28:
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Downey Police Department, in conjunction with the DEA, conducted a prescription drug take back event. A total of 516 lbs, of prescribed medications were turned in.
At 4:20 p.m., a 12-year-old male suspect approached a female victim inside the Stonewood Mall. The suspect unsuccessfully tried to take the victim’s cell. The suspect fled on foot and was eventually located. The suspect was arrested for attempted robbery.
At 11:30 p.m., officers located a vehicle wanted by LASD in connection with an armed
robbery in the parking lot of 8206 Firestone Blvd. The driver was detained and deputies responded to take custody of the suspect.
Sunday, October 29:
At 1:50 a.m. officers responded to 8148 Firestone Blvd. (Kelly’s Tavern) regarding a shots fired radio call. Officers located shell casing on Nancy Ave. and three unoccupied vehicles had been struck. There were no injuries and detectives are investigating.
At about 2 a.m., a male suspect unsuccessfully attempted to carjack an ambulance parked at a gas station at Woodruff Ave. and Imperial Hwy. The suspect attempted to stab the driver with a box cutter and fled on foot. Officers located the suspect at 9851 Imperial Hwy and arrested him for attempted carjacking.
At 3:30 p.m., officers located a stolen vehicle at 13028 Paramount Blvd. (Autozone) and arrested the driver for grand theft auto.
At 10:25 p.m., officers responded to 11010 Paramount Blvd. (La Barca Restaurant) regarding a shooting. Officers discovered an unknown suspect fired several handgun rounds from the parking lot. A male walking eastbound on 3rd street was struck, as well as a male who was standing in the patio area of 10924 Paramount Blvd. (Downey Brewing Company). Detectives are investigating.
