Crime Report, Nov. 15, 2015
Friday, Nov. 6:
At 1 a.m., a Downey police officer on routine patrol was driving through the rear parking lot of the Chateau Motel located at 9565 Firestone, when the officer observed and contacted a subject sitting in a vehicle. The vehicle was found to be stolen and the occupant, a 35-year-old man from Wilmington, was also on parole for burglary and claimed to be a gang member. The suspect was arrested for Grand Theft Auto and booked at the Downey Police Station.
At 1:30 p.m., Downey police officers were dispatched to the 12500 block of Lakewood regarding an assault. Upon arrival, officers were advised by the victim that her husband, a 30-year-old Downey resident, had struck her with his vehicle during an argument at their apartment complex. The victim sustained some moderate injuries from the assault, but they were not life-threatening. Officers arrested the suspect for domestic violence charges and transported him to the station for booking.
At 10:30 p.m., a Downey police officer stopped a male adult riding a bicycle for a traffic violation in the 10400 block of Rives. During the contact, the officer located drug paraphernalia while searching the man’s belongings. The officer also discovered that the suspect was in possession of stolen property that had recently been stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 8100 block of 3rd Street. The suspect was transported to the station, where he was booked for being in possession of stolen property.
Saturday, Nov. 7:
At 7:30 p.m., Downey police officers were dispatched to the 7800 block of Arnett regarding an assault. A 28-year-old Downey woman had intentionally rammed her husband’s vehicle with her vehicle while chasing after him during an argument. The woman rammed her vehicle into the rear of her husband’s vehicle as she was chasing him and attempted to ram him a second time, but lost control and collided with a parked vehicle. She was treated at a local hospital for a minor injury and then booked at the Downey Police Station for assault with a deadly weapon.
Sunday, Nov. 8:
At 11 p.m., Downey police officers responded to the 13200 block of Verdura regarding a robbery. Two men wearing black hooded sweatshirts, black bandanas over their face, and armed with handguns, approached a man as he was preparing to enter his vehicle parked on the street. The suspects stole the man’s wallet and car keys. The suspects then entered a white four-door Toyota Camry with paper license plates and drove away eastbound on Gardendale. Detectives are investigating.
