Crime Report, Feb. 27, 2017
Friday, Feb. 17:
Officers responded on numerous traffic hazards, (downed power lines, fallen trees), due to the heavy rain and winds. The Downey Fire Department and the City Yards also responded to assist.
At 9:30 p.m., officers responded to the 7100 block of Stewart & Gray Rd regarding a possible vehicle burglary in progress. The officers detained a male and female at the location and determined they broke into the vehicle in an attempt to steal it. Both suspects were arrested for grand theft auto.
Sunday, Feb. 19:
At 1:40 a.m., a Downey officer located an abandoned vehicle blocking traffic on Lakewood Blvd and Margaret St. While the officer was outside of his vehicle waiting for a tow truck to arrive, a drunk driver crashed into the rear of his police car. The drunk driver fled, but was located and arrested for drunk driving.
Monday, Feb. 20:
Downey Officers assisted the Whittier Police Department by patrolling their city in the hours following the murder of Whittier Police Officer Keith Boyer.
