Crime Report: Dec. 18, 2017
Friday, December 8:
At 7:55 p.m., a male suspect was confronted by Office Max store security for shoplifting (7075 Firestone Blvd.). The suspect then brandished a pocket knife and fled the location on a bicycle. Detectives are investigating.
Saturday, December 9:
At about 2:30 a.m., officers responded to the 8000 block of Alameda St. regarding an assault. A known suspect had struck the victim on the head with a glass statue, causing a 1” laceration. The suspect fled on foot but was later located at 12256 Paramount Blvd. The suspect was then arrested for the assault.
At 3:00 a.m., the victim was walking in the area of Lakewood Blvd. and Meadow Rd. when he was approached by a suspect armed with a handgun. The suspect ordered the victim to empty his pockets. Out of fear, the victim gave the suspect his cell phone. The suspect fled the location in an awaiting vehicle. Detectives are investigating.
At 3:15 p.m., an officer witnessed a suspect spray painting graffiti in the area of Dunrobin Ave. and Imperial Hwy. The suspect then fled the location but was caught a short distance away. It was also discovered the suspect had vandalized the property at the Discovery Sports Complex. The suspect was arrested for vandalism.
Sunday, December 10:
At about 9:00 p.m., officers were conducting a homeless encampment check in the Rio Hondo riverbed when they discovered a suspect riding a motorcycle in the channel. The suspect tried to hide the motorcycle, but it was later determined to be stolen. The suspect was arrested for theft.
Monday, December 11:
At 2:45 a.m., an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The vehicle pulled into a driveway on the 12200 block of Cornuta Ave. and the driver fled on foot. The driver was later located a short distance away and arrested for grand theft auto.
