Crime Report: Aug. 22, 2016
Friday, August 12:
At 2:00 p.m., officers were attempting to stop a man riding a bike for a traffic violation but the
bicyclist fled. The bicyclist abandoned his bike and ran into the residential neighborhood near
Downey and Adoree. Officers set up a perimeter and eventually located the suspect. He had a “no bail” warrant and was arrested without further incident.
At 10:00 p.m., the gang unit conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation at La Reina and 4th
Street. The driver, a 19-year-old man from West Covina, was found to be in possession of a
combat knife with attached metal knuckles, which is illegal to possess. The driver was arrested
for the weapons violation and later released on a citation.
At 11:30 p.m., officers were alerted to a stolen car in the area of Lakewood and
Imperial. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, a 19-year-old
man from Los Angeles, was arrested for grand theft auto. Inside the car, officers located
additional evidence and common tool used by car thieves.
Saturday, August 13:
At 2:30 a.m., an officer in the area of Suva and Guatemala conducted a traffic stop of a man on a bike for a traffic violation. During the stop, the officer located a small amount of drugs and
ammunition on the subject. The bicyclist was a felon in possession of methamphetamine and a
loaded Glock magazine. He was arrested without incident.
Monday, August 15:
At 10:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 9300 block of Downey Avenue regarding a possible robbery. A man had entered the home through an unlocked window and robbed the resident at gunpoint. The victim was not harmed and the suspect fled with the loss. The suspect was wearing a mask, black hoodie, and black sweat pants. Detectives are investigating.
