Crime Report, Aug. 1

Friday, July 22:

At 7:22 PM, officers were dispatched to 12334 Bellflower Blvd (Independence Park) regarding narcotics activity in the restroom. Officers located an adult male fitting the description and detained him. During a cursory search, a dagger, which is illegal to conceal, was located inside of the subject’s waistband. He was arrested for illegal possession of a concealed weapon.

Saturday, July 23:

At 2:45 AM, officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle in the downtown area. Officers located the vehicle pulling into the gas station in the 9300 block of Firestone. The driver, an adult female, was arrested for auto theft.

At 7:30 AM, officers responded to 12540 Rives (Apollo Park) regarding a vandalism report. Unknown suspect(s) had spray painted graffiti on the park buildings. Detectives are investigating.

At 2:53 PM, officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle in the downtown area. Officers located the vehicle a short time later traveling north on Lakewood at Florence and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, an adult female, was arrested for auto theft.

Sunday, July 24:

At 2:50 AM, officers responded to a traffic collision in the 8800 block of Golden Avenue where the driver had crashed into a parked vehicle. The driver was arrested for DUI.

At 3:00 AM, officers were dispatched to an illegally parked vehicle in a handicapped stall of the Courtyard Motel located at 9403 Firestone Blvd. As the officers arrived and attempted to contact a male sitting in the driver’s seat, he ran into the quad area where he was detained. During a consent search, officers located a handgun cartridge in the subject’s shirt pocket. He was arrested for illegal possession of ammunition.

At 7:20 AM, officers responded to the call of a possible arson in the 7000 block of Firestone. A suspect had been observed on the Edison right of way south of Firestone Blvd near the west city limits setting fires. The fire consumed a large amount of brush as well as ignited a structure and vehicle at the BJ’s Auto Salvage. DFD responded to extinguish the fire and an arson investigation is being conducted.
