Crime Report: April 9, 2020

On 3/30/2020 at approximately 9:30 a.m., officers responded to the railroad tracks behind Penske Toyota regarding transients on railroad tracks. Officers contacted two subjects, 1 female and 1 male, who were both cited for trespassing on railroad property.

On 3/31/2020 at approximately 7:45 p.m., officers responded to the 8000 block of Firestone Blvd. regarding reports of a shooting. The suspect and victim were in a verbal argument. The suspect subsequently shot the victim in the lower abdomen. The suspect fled the scene and was last seen traveling eastbound. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the suspect. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. Detectives responded in from home, identified the suspect, and later arrested him for attempted murder.

On 4/3/2020 at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers located an occupied stolen vehicle at Florence Ave. and Paramount Blvd. A high-risk traffic stop was conducted. The juvenile driver and the passenger were detained without incident. The passenger was issued a curfew citation and released to his parent in the field. The driver was arrested and later released on citation to his parents. The vehicle was recovered and returned to the owner.

On 4/3/2020 at approximately 1:35 a.m., officers responded to the 7300 block of Suva St. regarding an overdose. An adult male was at a party and took too much “Percocet” and overdosed. Officers gave the male Narcan to slow the effects of the Percocet. The male was transported to Downey PIH for treatment.

Detectives are investigating a robbery that occurred on 4/5/2020 at about 8:45 p.m. at Independence Park. The victims were in the park when they were approached by 3 males and 1 female suspect. Multiple suspects produced knives and threatened the victims while demanding their property. The suspects removed the victim’s wallet, iPhone, and keys to a vehicle from his pockets. The suspects fled on foot, eastbound through the park toward Dunrobin. The suspects’ faces were all covered with bandanas.
