Crime Report: 7/21/22
On 7/5/2022, at 3:30 PM, officers responded to the area of Lesterford Ave. & Farm St. regarding a delayed robbery report. The victim, a 16-year-old Downey resident, was walking in the area when the unknown suspect forcefully grabbed a purse she was holding in her hand. The suspect was last seen entering an awaiting vehicle, which fled the scene
On 7/6/2022, at 3:45 PM, officers were dispatched to the Rio San Gabriel Riverbed and Firestone Blvd, in regards to an assault with a deadly weapon. The victim was struck multiple times with a metal object. A second victim attempted to intervene and was also injured. The suspect fled the scene. Both victims sustained minor injuries.
On 7/6/2022, at 11:10 AM, officers responded to the 9200 block of Birdvale, in regards to a stabbing. The suspect was visiting the victim at his residence, when an argument ensued. The suspect became upset and used a knife to stab the victim’s lower torso. The suspect fled and was located and arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. The victim’s injuries were non-life threatening.
On 7/9/2022, at 3:15 PM, officers were dispatched to Lakewood Blvd and Florence Ave, regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. The suspect was driving in a reckless manner on Telegraph Rd. The victims pulled alongside the suspect at a red signal and confronted the suspect over his driving. The suspect fled the scene and a short distance later, the victims noticed the suspect in an adjacent parking lot holding what they believed to be a rifle. The suspect briefly pointed the muzzle in their direction. The suspect then fled the scene prior to police arrival.
On 7/10/2022, at 12:45 AM, officers responded to the 8100 block of Leeds Ave, regarding several calls of shots fired. Officers arrived and found 5 gunshot victims at the location. Three of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene and the additional 2 victims were transported to St. Francis with nonlife-threatening injuries.
On 7/10/2022, at 5:45 PM, officers responded to Firestone Blvd and the Rio Hondo Riverbed, in regards to a stabbing. Responding officers located an adult victim suffering from multiple lacerations to his arms. The victim was transported to a local hospital and his wounds were deemed nonlife-threatening.
