  • On May 4 at 1135 hours, officers responded to an attempted robbery at the 11400 block of Old River School Rd. The male adult victim placed an order and walked out to his car to wait for his order. While in his car, the male adult suspect approached and asked for money. When the victim told him no, the suspect demanded the money and grabbed at the front of his waistband. The victim stated he saw the handle of a gun. The suspect walked away and was later located by responding officers. No gun was found on the suspect and he was ultimately arrested for the attempted robbery.

  • On May 6 at 0205 hours, officers responded to a call of shots fired, at 9530 Imperial Hwy. Numerous subjects were contacted and confirmed they heard a gunshot however could not provide additional information. One spent casing was located in the parking lot but no one could provide any suspect information. No victims were located and detectives are currently conducting follow up investigation.

  • On May 6 at 2200 hours, officers were assigned to street racing enforcement throughout the city. During this time, officers observed a vehicle doing donuts in the north parking lot of Raising Canes. Officers detained the vehicle and ultimately located a loaded handgun during a search of the vehicle. The adult male driver was arrested for a weapons violation.

  • Detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred on May 9 at 2355 hours, at the 7900 block of Florence Ave. The victim, a male adult visiting from Pennsylvania, was leaving the CVS Pharmacy when the unknown suspect fired approximately five rounds from a handgun at the victim. One round went through the driver’s door and the victim sustained a gunshot wound to his calf. The victim drove himself to a local hospital, which contacted the Downey Police Department. Officers responded and the victim was uncooperative and refused to provide any further information or suspect description. The victim was later released from the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.

  • Detectives are investigating an assault that occurred on May 10 at 1630, on the 9300 block of Imperial Hwy. The male adult victim was driving to Kaiser Hospital where he was delivering specimens, when he noticed a vehicle swerving in and out of traffic. For an unknown reason, the suspect vehicle followed the victim. The victim stopped in the parking lot and was confronted by the suspect. The suspect produced a metal object from his vehicle and struck the victim and causing a minor abrasion. The suspect fled the area. Detectives are actively investigating the case.
