Crime Report: 4/22/21
• On 4/5/2021 at approximately 1:45 pm, officers responded to the Salvation Army, located at 9444 Firestone Blvd, regarding a strong arm robbery. Officers located the suspect walking across Firestone Blvd. Officers detained the suspect and began to handcuff her. Officers held one of the female’s hands in a rear wrist lock control hold. The suspect began to kick one of the officers in the leg. Officers were able to maintain control of the suspect and handcuffed her without using force. The suspect was transported to the station without further incident and booked for Robbery. Officers did not sustain any injuries.
• On 4/6/2021 at approximately 8:05 pm, officers attempted a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle in the area of Paramount Blvd & Telegraph Rd but the driver fled. Officers did not pursue and the vehicle was last seen southbound on Paramount Blvd from Firestone Blvd. The vehicle was later located unoccupied in the 8100 block of Leeds. The vehicle was recovered and an evading traffic report was taken.
• On 4/7/2021 at approximately 7:50 pm, the suspect approached the victim near the riverbed entrance (Firestone Boulevard and east city limits), pointed a black handgun at the victim, and demanded property. The victim refused the demands. The suspect fled northbound on a motorbike. The suspect attempted to flee from officers, but with the assistance of a LA Sheriff’s helicopter, the suspect was apprehended north of Florence Avenue. The suspect had an empty handgun holster inside his waistband. The weapon was not recovered. The motorbike was an unreported stolen out of the City of Whittier. The suspect was booked for attempt robbery. It was later discovered the suspect was a parolee at large.
• Detectives are investigating a commercial burglary that occurred on 4/8/2021 at about 3:30 am at 9002 Firestone Blvd (Carl’s Jr). Officers responded to the location regarding an open window that was observed by the cleaning crew. A temporary drive thru window was found open and the register’s cash drawers were pried open on the inside counter. A suspect was not located and loss was unable to be determined.
• On 4/10/2021 at approximately 7:10 am, dispatch received a call of a subject loitering in a front yard of a residence in the 6400 block of Dos Rios Rd. When the homeowner confronted the subject, the subject brandished a handgun at the homeowner. The suspect was contacted at the south entrance to Treasure Island Park by officers and found to be in possession of a BB gun. The suspect was arrested and later released with a citation.
• Detectives are investigating an assault that occurred on 4/11/2021 at about 1:35 pm in the 8300 block of Firestone Blvd. The victim was sitting in a wheelchair panhandling to the front of the Dollar Tree store. The victim was flying a Trump flag from his wheelchair. The suspect confronted the victim and cursed at him and his Trump flag. The suspect walked over to his bike, removed his bike lock and struck the victim on the leg with the bike lock. The suspect fled the location on his bike and was last seen southbound on Downey Ave. The victim sustained minor injuries to his leg.
