Crime Report: 4/17/25
■ On April 8 at 1:15 am, officers located a stolen vehicle. As officers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, the vehicle fled, and a vehicle pursuit was initiated. The driver of the stolen vehicle began driving erratically. The pursuit was ultimately terminated by officers in the interest of public safety.
■ On April 10 at 12:35 am, officers responded to the 13100 block of Lakewood Blvd. regarding a subject brandishing a knife. Officers arrived and located the suspect outside of a business. The suspect was uncooperative and refused to follow the commands given by the officers. A less lethal munition was deployed, and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. A knife was recovered at the scene.
■ On April 12 at 6:10 pm, officers responded to CVS, located at 7915 Florence Ave., regarding a strongarm robbery that had just occurred. A male suspect approached the victim inside the store, stole the victim’s gold chain, and attempted to steal the victim’s watch. The suspect fled the store and was pursued by the victim. Officers quickly responded to the area and were advised by a witness that a subject matching the suspect’s description was seen in the 9900 block of Parrot St. Officers established a containment and began searching the area with the help of a drone, DPD K-9 unit, and the California Highway Patrol helicopter. After several minutes of searching, the suspect was located. The suspect was taken into custody without incident, and the stolen chain was recovered.
■ On April 13 at 10:15 am, officers on routine patrol in the 13200 block of Woodruff Ave. contacted several subjects sitting inside a vehicle. The officers noticed open alcohol containers in the vehicle. During the subsequent investigation, the officers determined one of the occupants was under the influence and in possession of narcotics. The suspect, although initially non-compliant, was arrested.
