Crime Report: 3/24/20
• On 3/16/2020 at approximately 8 a.m., Officers responded to the area of Firestone Blvd / Woodruff Ave regarding a strong arm robbery. The male victim was crossing Firestone Blvd on foot when a known male suspect approached and punched the victim. The victim fell to the ground and the suspect removed the victim's wallet from his pocket. The suspect fled the location on foot. Later in the day, officers located the suspect in the 9500 block of Firestone where he was arrested for the robbery. The victim sustained minor injures during the incident.
• On 3/17/2020 at approximately 4 a.m., Officers responded to the 8800 block of Imperial Hwy regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call. The male suspect was told to leave the location by security for assaulting an employee. As the suspect was driving away, the suspect attempted to drive over the security guard with his vehicle. In fear he would be struck, the security guard discharged his security-issued firearm at the suspect vehicle. The suspect fled onto westbound Imperial Hwy and out of sight. Detectives responded to the scene and are investigating the incident.
• On 3/18/2020 at approximately 11 p.m., Officers responded to 9800 block of Imperial Hwy regarding a report of a robbery. The suspect, entered the store and demanded money from the (3) employees. The suspect held up a hatchet and threatened to kill the employees if they did not give him the money. The suspect then fled the location without any money. The suspect was detained a short distance away by gang detectives and arrested for robbery.
• On 3/19/2020 at approximately 6 a.m., Officers responded to a burglary in progress near 300 Stonewood, at a jewelry store. Two adult male suspects were seen inside, on video, breaking into the store. Officers arrived as the suspects were exiting the mall. Both suspects were detained and were found in possession of approximately $150,000 worth of jewelry. Both suspects were arrested and charged with burglary.
• On 3/20/2020 at approximately 9 p.m., Officers responded to a traffic collision in the 8400 block of Florence. The adult male was driving at a high rate of speed and lost control of his vehicle. His vehicle collided with a concrete Edison light pole, shearing it and collided into a business, causing minor damage to the building. The building was unoccupied and the driver's injuries were minor.
• On 3/21/2020 at approximately 4:20 a.m., Officers responded to a commercial burglary in the 9000 block of Imperial Hwy. A witness from a nearby apartment complex south of the business observed 3 suspects breaking into the business. Officers were in the area and observed the 3 suspects fleeing on Columbia with store merchandise. Officers were able to apprehend one of the suspects. Additional loss was located in the area, however, the other 2 suspects were not located. Detectives are investigating.
