Crime Report: 2/6/20

On January 29, 2020, at approximately 1:30 am, a carjacking occurred in near the 8800 block of Apollo Way. The suspect followed the victim to his vehicle and knocked the keys out of his hand. The suspect picked up the keys and fled in the victim's vehicle (98 black Honda). The suspect was described as a male Hispanic, 6-0, 160 lbs. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the suspect. Detectives are investigating.

* On January 30, 2020, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers responded to the 8000 block of Stewart & Gray regarding a trespasser refusing to leave. The suspect was arrested and booked at the Downey Police Department.

* On January 30, 2020, at approximately 10 p.m., officers responded to the 13600 block of Klondike regarding a possible overdose. The resident, a known narcotics user, was transported to Kaiser Hospital for treatment.

* On January 31, 2020, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers responded to the 12600 block of Barlin  Avenue regarding a 17-year-old male who had possibly overdosed on opiate. Officers located the unconscious victim and immediately administered Narcan. The victim regained consciousness and was transported to the hospital by Downey Fire for treatment.

* January 31, 2020. The Downey PD Mental Health Team and assisting officers contacted six transients at three different encampments in the area of the San Gabriel Flood Control / 105 fwy. The subjects were contacted and cited for unlawful use of flood the control channel and were advised of available services.

* On January 31, 2020, at approximately 6:15 p.m., officers located a vehicle taken in a carjacking and a short vehicle pursuit ensued. The suspect was apprehended after a minor traffic collision at Old River School Rd and Stewart & Gray.  The suspect, a 34-year-old male from Norwalk, was taken into custody.

* On February 1, 200, at approximately 1:30 a.m., a drunk driver struck a male who was standing in his own driveway in the area of Smallwood and Lyndora. The victim was suffered moderate injuries and was taken to St. Francis for treatment. The driver remained at the scene, was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested.

* On February 2, 2020, at approximately 2:30 a.m., an armed robbery occurred in the 11000 block of Downey Ave. The victim was confronted by an unknown male in the rear parking lot of a bar, shortly after closing time.  The suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded the victim's property. The victim relinquished two gold chains and the suspect fled southbound on foot out of sight. Detectives are investigating.

* On February 2, 2020, at approximately 10 a.m., a victim was robbed while attempting to sell an item through an online app in the 8100 block of Stewart & Gray. The strong-arm robbery occurred when the victim leaned into the suspect's car window to show the item for sale.  The suspect pulled the item from the victim's hands and fled westbound from the locating. Detectives are investigating.

* On February 2, 2020, at approximately noon, officers responded to parking lot at Stonewood Center regarding a child locked in a vehicle.  A distressed, 2 year old male was located alone, sweating and crying, inside the vehicle. Officers made entry to the vehicle to rescue the child. The father was arrested for Child Endangerment.
