Thursday, Aug. 19Downey officers, along with an investigator from the Alcoholic Beverage Control, conducted the first of several inspections at off-sale locations (liquor stores). The establishments were issued correction notice violations and supplied with informational booklets. Friday, Aug. 20 At 1:15 p.m., an armed robbery occurred at Alex Jewelers, 7615 Firestone Blvd. Two male suspects in their twenties entered the business and, at gunpoint, stole several thousand dollars in jewelry. The suspects fled from the location prior to police arrival. The investigation is ongoing. At 6:40 p.m., a residential burglary occurred in the 9000 block of Gallatin Road. Suspect(s) entered the victim's residence via an unlocked rear door and ransacked the master bedroom. Tuesday, Aug. 24 At 2:35 a.m., officers responded to a call of a grand theft at a residence in the 12700 block of Orizaba. Taken from the residence were several firearms. The investigation is ongoing. Wednesday, Aug. 25 A robbery occurred at Crawford Park, 7000 Dinwiddie, at about 6:50 p.m. The victim was jogging in the park when he was approached by the suspect who demanded his iPod. The victim complied and the suspect fled the area prior to police arrival. Information provided by Downey Police Department. Report crimes in progress by calling 911.
