Thursday, Feb. 28At 11:00 a.m., a vehicle fled from one of our motorcycle officers who attempted to stop it for a traffic violation. After a short pursuit, the driver crashed in the area of Woodruff & Cecilia. Both the driver and his passenger ran away from the car into the neighborhood. Both were found a short time later by officers. The vehicle was determined to be stolen and both arrestees were booked for grand theft auto.
At 2:30 p.m., a structure fire in the 8200 block of Nance affected two power poles and caused several power outages throughout the City. The following evening, a woman brought her son to the police station after learning he was responsible for starting the fire. Detectives interviewed the juvenile and then booked him for arson. Later the same evening, detectives also arrested another juvenile for arson after learning of his involvement in the crime.
Saturday, March 2 In response to complaints from residents regarding suspicious activity in their neighborhood, officers conducted extra patrol in the area of Dolan and Gardendale. At 12:15 a.m., officers cited three subjects who were parked in the area drinking alcohol. At 1:30 a.m., officers contacted suspicious subjects inside a parked car and arrested one occupant for possession of narcotic paraphernalia. Information provided by Downey Police Department.
