Friday, May 14At 2:00 a.m., a 22-year-old Downey man was arrested for felony drunk driving after he crashed his car into a home in the 8400 block of Stewart & Gray. The suspect was transported to the Los Angeles County Jail after booking. At 5:00 a.m., a propane tanker overturned on Stewart & Gray at Regentview after the driver failed to negotiate a turn. The collision resulted in a spill of liquid propane and the subsequent closure of Firestone between the 605 Freeway and Woodruff. The roads were opened later in the day. Saturday, May 15 At 1:30 p.m., a 46-year-old woman suffering from Schizophrenia and having the mental capacity of an 8-year-old walked away from her family while at the Stonewood Shopping Center. The missing person resides in Arizona and was in the area visiting family in the City of Norwalk. Detectives are investigating and seeking the public's help. At 7:00 p.m., officers arrested two adult males in the area of Lakewood and Gallatin after they attempted to steal a man's car. The suspects had been involved in a traffic collision with the victim. Both suspects were arrested and charged with Car Jacking and Aggravated Assault. Sunday, May 16 At 8:00 a.m., a 20-year-old Bellflower man was arrested after he was caught driving a stolen vehicle and led officers on a short vehicle pursuit. The suspect was booked for Grand Theft Auto. Monday, May 17 At 8:45 a.m., officers responded to 9050 Imperial Hwy regarding a trespass at the location. Officers encountered two suspects. One suspect immediately surrendered; however, the second suspect threw a metal pipe at the officers and began running away. Officers pursued the suspect on foot and ultimately took him into custody. The suspect was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police officer. Wednesday, May 20 At 12:45 a.m., officers located a burning vehicle in the Rio Hondo River bed at Florence Avenue. The vehicle had been reported stolen from the city of Los Angeles. Arson investigators are looking into the case. Courtesy Downey Police Department
