Community barbecue

The city of Downey and Mayor Luis Marquez will host a community barbecue this Saturday from 2-4 p.m. at Golden Park. All area residents are invited to the free event. The city hosted a similar barbecue last Saturday at Redeemer Covenant Church for residents of the "triangle" neighborhood east of the 605 Freeway. The barbecues include food and an opportunity for residents to meet city officials and members of the police and fire departments.
