‘Come From Away’ opens Broadway season in Cerritos

CERRITOS – The Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) is kicking off its 2024-25 Broadway season with the stirring and inspiring musical “Come From Away,” which runs Nov. 9-10. Ticket prices start at $52.

“Come From Away” is the remarkable true story of the small town in Newfoundland that opened its homes to 7,000 stranded travelers on Sept. 11, 2001. During that fateful week, cultures clashed and nerves ran high – but uneasiness turned into trust, music soared into the night, and gratitude grew into enduring friendships.

The Los Angeles Times called the production “an affecting, stirring and unpretentious new musical .... [that] lets the simple goodness of ordinary people outshine sensational evil.” Variety hailed the musical as “a moving, thoroughly entertaining tribute to international amity and the indomitable human spirit.”

A “Best Musical” winner all across North America, “Come From Away” won the Tony for “Best Direction of a Musical” (Christopher Ashley); four Olivier Awards (London) including “Best New Musical”; five Outer Critics Circle Awards (NYC) including “Outstanding New Broadway Musical”; three Drama Desk Awards (NYC) including “Outstanding Musical”; and four Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards (North American Tour) including “Best Production.”
