Claudia Frometa appoints city council opponent Carrie Uva to bond oversight committee
DOWNEY — Newly-elected councilmember Claudia Frometa has tapped her election opponent, Carrie Uva, to serve on the Independent Citizens Oversight Committee for district 4.
The committee ensures that Measure S tax proceeds are properly spent.
Frometa defeated Uva to win a seat on the Downey City Council last November, replacing termed-out council member Fernando Vasquez.
Uva will replace Jeannette Baumann on the committee. Baumann had been appointed by Vasquez.
Meanwhile, Frometa selected Dimitrious Spathopulous to serve on the Planning Commission, replacing Matias Flores.
The appointments still needs approval by the City Council, which will vote Tuesday.
