Clark Michael Jones
June 2, 1948 - August 15, 2019
Clark Michael Jones was born June 2, 1948 in Los Angeles, CA, the third of eleven children born to Richard and Louise Jones. The Jones family moved to Downey, CA in 1950 where Clark attended Our Lady Perpetual Help grammar school through the 8th grade. In 1962, Clark attended the Claretian Seminary in Rancho Dominguez Hills, CA; in late 1963, Clark left the seminary and attended Pius X High School in Downey, CA where he graduated in 1966. In December 1968, at age 20, Clark was drafted into the Army and spent just under a year in Vietnam from 1969-70 attaining the rank of Specialist 4. Clark received a medical retirement from the Army in September 1970.
After his military retirement, Clark worked for a radiator manufacturer in Los Angeles until he was hired by the Long Beach Naval Shipyard as an Electrical Technician until the Shipyard closed down. Clark transferred to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a Radar Technician during which time he assisted in the installation of many radar systems for smaller airports throughout the Western United States, and continued working for the FAA until his retirement.
In the 1968, prior to his deployment to Viet Nam, Clark met Jean White, although they were never married, they had a daughter together, Leota White. In April 1976 Clark married Mardel Aldrich-Sutterfield and in 1980 adopted her son, Nolan from her previous marriage. Clark’s daughter, Leota, subsequently gave birth to three children, Joseph, Brittany, and Tyler whom Clark and Mardel eventually adopted as their own.
Clark was predeceased by his parents, Richard (1984) and Louise (2006), his wife Mardel (2002), his son Tyler (2011), his great-granddaughter Olivia Mardel (2012) and his son Nolan (2019). Clark is survived by his son, Joseph of Oklahoma; his daughter, Brittany and her husband and children of Tennessee; 10 siblings and their spouses, Timothy (Lois); Sister Mary Richardlyn, SND; Sister Mary Domnic, SND; Rosemary Saldivar (Robert); Stephen (Linda Sue); Raymond (Midge); William (Linda); Theodore (Ruan); Daniel (Lilliam); Tracey (Karen); many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, great-grand-nieces and great-grand nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at White’s Funeral Home, 9903 East Flower Street, Bellflower, CA 90706 on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 9:30 AM with interment at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA 92518 at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, September 3, 2019
