City-wide cleanup Oct. 15

DOWNEY - Downey city officials are asking residents to pitch in with a city-wide cleanup effort taking place Oct. 15 from 9-10 a.m.The event is part of an effort to help keep the city clean and litter-free, officials said. Residents are encouraged to form groups in their own neighborhoods and help clean up litter. The city's Keep Downey Beautiful program will provide trash bags, gloves and safety vests. Residents and teams should register for the event by calling Keep Downey Beautiful at (562) 904-7117.
