City readies for budget talks

DOWNEY - The city of Downey's spending plan for 2012-13 will be publicly available starting May 21, according to a tentative schedule released by the city this week.No specific date or time has been set for a public hearing, where council members discuss and modify the budget. The budget is expected to be approved on June 26. According to the Downey Municipal Code, the annual budget must be adopted before June 30 each fiscal year.
