City offering free flu vaccines
DOWNEY - The city of Downey, in partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, will administer free flu vaccinations on Nov. 20 from 12-4 p.m. at the Downey Theatre.Vaccinations are being offered to residents lacking health insurance or whose healthcare provider does not offer flu vaccines. Vaccinations are recommended for everyone 6 months of age and older, including healthy adults, city officials said. It is especially recommended for children, adults ages 50 and older, women who are pregnant or just had a baby, the morbidly obese, healthcare providers, people living in nursing homes, live-in caregivers and anyone with a weakened immune system or a chronic medical condition such as diabetes, heart disease or lung disease.
