City Council to consider reducing speed limit on stretch of Firestone

DOWNEY – After receiving the results of a traffic study, city officials are proposing to reduce the speed limit on a busy stretch of Firestone Boulevard.

The maximum permissible speed on Firestone between Old River School Road to the west city limits is currently 40 MPH.

However, Public Works officials are recommending the speed limit be decreased to 35 MPH, citing the results of a traffic study conducted last October.

The City Council gave preliminary approval to the request last month and will consider formally adopting the new speed limit Tuesday.
