City Council agrees to keep funding Stay Gallery through July

DOWNEY — The city of Downey will provide Stay Gallery with $28,000 to operate through the end of July.

The new agreement – which was approved unanimously by the council last week – covers the remaining lease payments for April through July at a cost of $12,128, plus an additional $4,000/month from April through July to ensure regular operating hours and programming for the public, bringing the total cost to $28,128.

The subsidy is covered through the city’s Arts in Public Places funding.

The city has paid rent for the facility – located at 11140 Downey Avenue – since 2012.
