City considers Uber, Lyft parking zone downtown

DOWNEY – Finding your Uber or Lyft in Downtown Downey may soon get easier.

The City Council is considering establishing a parking zone exclusively for app-based rideshares.

If approved, the parking zone would be located on the south side of 2nd Street, just east of Downey Avenue. It would operate from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., Thursday through Sunday.

Uber and Lyft drivers could park in the zone for up to 5 minutes to load and unload passengers.
