Circus Vargas returning to Stonewood Center

DOWNEY - Circus Vargas will return to Downey later this month.

The circus gained unanimous approval to raise its tent again from the Planning Commission last week. It will occupy the southeast parking lot of the Stonewood Mall, west of BJ’s Restaurant and facing Lakewood Boulevard.

Set up of the carnival – consisting of a 17,000 square foot tent, food booths, merchandise stands, and portable restrooms – will take place between April 19-21. There will be 28 performances over the course of 20 performance days between April 22 and May 9. Tear down of the site will be completed by May 10.

The circus has previously operated at the Stonewood Center several times, most recently in late August through early September last year.

Around 500 attendees are anticipated for each performance.
