Chick-fil-A projected to open next February

DOWNEY – By this time next year, south Downey residents should be able to get their Chick-fil-A fix without crossing Firestone Boulevard.

The Planning Commission last week approved plans for the previously announced Chick-fil-A at the southwest corner of Lakewood Boulevard and Imperial Highway.

The 4,000 sq. ft. restaurant is projected to open by February 2020.

As part of the project, a 10,473 sq. ft. commercial building at the site will be remodeled, and a restaurant building – currently occupied by Tacos Baja – will be demolished.

When it opens, the restaurant will be Downey’s second Chick-fil-A; the first opened on Firestone Boulevard near Downey High School in 2014.
