Carlo Paolucci

January 19, 1960 - January 8, 2025

Carlo Paolucci, was born on January 19, 1960 in Cleveland, Ohio to Italian immigrants Carmine and Gentilina Paolucci.

In 1964, at the age of four, Carlo and his family relocated to Downey, California. He attended St. Raymond’s Catholic School where he served as an alter boy through the 8th grade. He graduated from Warren High School in 1978.

Carlo’s early years were filled with a passion for bikes, motorcycles, cars and trucks. He often went off-road riding with his buddies and enjoyed buying and selling all types of vehicles from BMW’s, to vintage cars, 4 wheel drive trucks and go carts.

Most of Carlo’s childhood was spent in his family’s pizzeria, Carlo’s Pizza, which was his namesake. There he learned the restaurant business as he worked alongside his father.

After high school Carlo worked for Budweiser at Triangle Distributing, handling customer accounts and merchandising. His ability to connect with people was one of his greatest strengths and his stories would leave everyone in stitches.

Tall and handsome, he stood at 6 foot 8 inches with big blue eyes with a resonant voice. His larger than life personality made him unforgettable to anyone that met him.

Carlo shared a special bond with his mother and her sudden passing in 1989 was a devastating blow. He often spoke of her and held her memory dear to his heart. In 2009 after his father passed away Carlo took over ownership of Carlo’s Pizza. His employees and customers adored him for his boisterous personality and infectious humor. He had quite a fan club.

In 2016 due to health issues Carlo made the difficult decision to sell the pizzeria, a place that had been at the heart of his life for so long.

Carlo’s big heart matched his large stature and bigger than life personality. Though some were intimidated by his size, those who knew him understood he was a gentle giant. His loyalty to his friends and family was passionate and unconditional.

Carlo was also an avid sports fan, following his favorite teams the LA Dodgers and Lakers.

On January 8th, 2025, just 11 days shy of his 65th birthday, Carlo passed away due to complications of diabetes. Throughout his lifetime Carlo touched many lives with his stories and laughter, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
