Candidate claims he was assaulted while campaigning

DOWNEY – City Council District 2 candidate Dr. Anthony Felix claimed in a social media post that he has been attacked and held at gunpoint while out campaigning.

Felix made the claims in a Facebook post on his official campaign profile on Sept. 14, saying he was “saddened by these events.”

“I have been campaigning for just under a week and in that time I have been physically attacked once and had guns pulled on me twice by residents,” Felix wrote. “Their conduct cannot deter me from the mission. I will continue down this road unphased.”

Felix did not elaborate on the alleged incidents and did not return several messages from the Downey Patriot.

Calls to the Downey Police Department Detective Bureau were not returned.
