Canadian immigration discussed

WHITTIER - The Whittier Area Genealogical Society will listen to guest speaker Debby Horton on Sept. 19, whose topic is "Researching Immigration into Canada."Horton will discuss where to find immigration records for your Canadian family or immigrants who may have come through Canada to America. Horton owns and operates Connect-Your-Dots, a genalogical services company, and specializes in Internet research, research methodology, and British and French Canadian records. Also on Sept. 19, Pat Chavarria, president of the Glendora Genealogical Group, will speak on "Writing Effective Genealogical Correspondence" in a refresher class. She will discuss how to get the most out of your genealogical correspondence, where to write for information, and the importance of keeping a correspondence log. The refresher class starts at 10:30 a.m. and lasts until noon. Cost is $3. A beginner class, also from 10:30 to noon, is free to visitors or new members who need help getting started in genealogy.
