Brownie Brown

Brownie Brown was born July 2, 1928 in Los Angeles CA. He passed away on April 2, 2020 in Union City, CA. He was the son of Harold and Blanche Lily Brown. Brownie graduated Downey High School in 1947. After serving in the Army, he spent his early career in the lunch truck business for his mom’s business “Blanche Brown Lunches”. He later became a Real Estate Broker in Downey. Brownie was very active in the Downey Rose Float Association, he served as float driver and a term as President. He was active in the Downey and Chino Hills Lions Clubs serving as President and receiving the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. He was active in the Downey Masons. Brownie was a former member of the Downey First Presbyterian Church. Brownie and his wife volunteered many times on mission trips helping to rehabilitate Christian camps and schools. Brownie spent several summers acting as a camp host. Brownie loved to travel, especially on cruises. Brownie, along with his wife, lived in the Masonic Homes of Covina and Union City.
Brownie believed strongly in giving back to the community, always seeking out ways to lend a hand. He loved to travel and explore new places. Brownie was a people person, always ready to learn about people of all cultures, religions and from all walks of lives. Brownie touched many lives in his over 91 years.
Brownie is survived by his wife Georgia of Union City; his children: Ken (Anne) of Alpena MI; Laurie (Rory) Gibson of Florissant CO; Joyce (Hank) Feldman of Long Beach; his brothers: Ron (Leta) of Redondo Beach; Evert (Louise) of Boulder, CO; his nine grandchildren and his six great-grandchildren.
