BLVD MRKT hosting inaugural Eastside Pride event
MONTEBELLO — Eastside Pride, a celebration of universal love, equity, visibility, and an acceptance and affirmation of the LGBTQ+ community, will be held this Saturday, June 25, at BLVD MRKT in Montebello.
Some of the events planned for the day include a drag show brunch, LGBTQ+ flea market mercado, a drag ball, live performances, giveaways, and a DJ dance party hosted by Cumbiaton.
The event was created by a coalition of community members, business owners, and city officials who wanted to build an inclusive day-long event celebrating the LGBTQ+ community during Pride Month on the Eastside of Los Angeles.
“It’s important for all communities to feel represented, to feel like they can be celebrated and honored for being their bold, beautiful and authentic self,” said Barney Santos, co-owner of BLVD MRKT.
Eastside Pride begins with the City of Montebello’s 5K, “Stride for Pride,” between 8 am and noon, immediately followed by several community-driven events from 12 pm to midnight and centered in Downtown Montebello.
