Blanca Rochin presented Mayor's Healthy Heart Award
The Mayor’s Healthy Heart Award is given to leaders that have made a significant impact in our community. Blanca Rochin has a passion for education as seen through her leadership skills and accomplishments over the years as Principal for Downey Adult School.
She has a natural ability to create leaders and inspire others. Long are the days when her family emigrated from a small town in the northern part of Mexico in search of the American Dream and with a goal to contribute back to this country. I have known Blanca Rochin for several years and have seen all the ways she has made Downey a better place to live.
Blanca Rochin grew up in East LA and graduated from Garfield High School. She received her bachelor degree from Azusa Pacific, teaching credential from UC San Diego and her master’s in educational leadership from Concordia University in Irvine.
It is my honor to present Blanca Rochin with the Mayor’s Healthy Heart Award for her true commitment toward improving the health, well-being and future success for the residents of the City of Downey.
