Black Bear Diner confirmed for former Coco's location

City staff has confirmed that Black Bear Diner will take the place of the former Coco’s Restaurant location which closed earlier this year.

The building – located at 7900 Florence Ave. – has seen several different restaurants as its tenant over its history, notably Bob’s Big Boy, Carrow’s, and Coco’s.

Rumors of Black Bear’s arrival began circulating when Downey was added to the list of “upcoming locations” on the diner chain’s website.

According to Community Development Director Aldo Schindler, the building will see minimal changes, and it is safe to believe that the location will reopen with its new tenants within 60 days.

Black Bear Diner is known for its homey, bear inspired décor and home-style comfort food.
