Behold the LAX burger, a cheeseburger possibly better than In-N-Out

Since opening its modest 2nd Street storefront in 2012, L.A. Buns has operated in the shadows of Porto's Bakery, both literally and figuratively.

But there's a menu item at L.A. Buns that really deserves more recognition. It's fresh. It's delicious.

It's a burger -- dare I say -- that is better than In-N-Out.

It's a half-pound beef patty on a toasted brioche bun, topped with two slices of melted American cheddar cheese, bacon, crispy onion strings, lettuce, roasted tomatoes, and homemade thousand island dressing.

It's a thing of beauty. Even Super Bowl champ Richard Sherman is a fan.

The LAX burger is best paired with an order of buffalo chicken fries. For the uninitiated, this is breaded chicken breast, cheddar jack cheese and buffalo sauce over a bed of fries.

If beef isn't your thing, the South LA Chicken Sandwich is a good alternative. It consists of breaded marinated chicken breast, homemade coleslaw, and red rooster mayo.

But the real star is the LAX burger.
