Barbara Ann Redd was longtime resident
DOWNEY – Barbara Ann Redd, a longtime resident of Downey, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 6, at the age of 78.
Barbara’s story began in Sioux City, Iowa, where she was born to Leslie and Betty Blackstone on August 5, 1937. She was raised in Paramount, Calif., where she attended Paramount High. She would go on to marry Frank Redd in 1966 and settle in Downey with their four children.
A longtime cosmetologist, she co-owned Downey’s House of Beauty for a short time in the early part of the 80s. She retired in late 2009.
She is survived by her husband Frank and her four children; daughter Sherrill Redd, son Michael Redd, daughter Robbin Spears and daughter Kathleen Richard (Ben).
Barbara will also be remembered by her five grandchildren John, Chris, Tiffany, Barbara and Ryan, six great-grandchildren, and siblings Connie Blackstone and Ronald Blackstone Sr.
Graveside services were held on Thursday, March 31, at All Souls Mortuary in Long Beach. Services began at 11 a.m.
