Assistant City Manager John Oskoui retires while on administrative leave
DOWNEY — Assistant City Manager John Oskoui has retired and is no longer with the city of Downey, interim city manager Mark Scott announced Tuesday.
Oskoui – who has served as Downey’s assistant city manager since 2012 – was placed on administrative leave in April for an undisclosed “confidential personnel matter” amidst a slew of other departures at city hall, including former city manager Gilbert Livas.
An official date was not given for Oskoui’s retirement, however, Scott confirmed that it was within this month.
Details as to why Oskoui was placed on leave have still not been released.
Vaniah De Rojas is currently serving in the assistant city manager role. She is expected to stay in the role until a new permanent assistant city manager is appointed, after the selection of a new city manager.
