INGLEWOOD — Army Chief of Staff James McConville was in Southern California on Tuesday where he was briefed on Army recruiting efforts during the coronavirus pandemic.

McConville visited the Army recruitment center in Inglewood, meeting with Army personnel, including recruiters.

With schools closed and L.A. County under stay-at-home orders, Army officials said they were utilizing social media to interact with potential recruits.

“Covid is the invisible enemy, it certainly threatens the health of all our citizens, but I’m very impressed here to see our recruiters are taking care of the young men and women who come in and want to serve in the United States Army,” McConnell said.

“I think the heroes in this fight are the doctors, the nurses, the scientists and the medical professionals who are out there. And they will defeat this virus.”

While at the recruitment center, McConville presented challenge coins to Army personnel. He was also presented a pin by Mario A. Guerra, Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army.
